Victoria Monét and the Black Music Action Coalition (BMAC) have joined forces to bring forth the BMAC x Victoria Monét Music Maker Grant, a transformative initiative aimed at fulfilling the aspirations of a talented Black artist. This groundbreaking grant not only bestows a $5,000 monetary award to foster economic empowerment but also offers invaluable mentorship and direct career guidance from Victoria Monét, a highly acclaimed artist with ten Grammy nominations.

Scheduled for an official announcement on Wednesday, January 31, at BMAC’s Grammy Week Music Maker Dinner in Los Angeles, the grant embodies BMAC’s steadfast commitment to fostering access, equity, and opportunities for the upcoming generation of Black artists and industry professionals.

Willie “Prophet” Stiggers, co-founder, president, and CEO of BMAC, expresses gratitude for the partnership with Victoria Monét, emphasizing the collective mission to uplift a deserving Black artist within the music industry. Stiggers notes that Monét’s journey, marked by resilience and perseverance, serves as an inspirational backdrop for the initiative’s purpose of paying it forward.

In 2023, Victoria Monét experienced a remarkable surge in success, achieving her first No. 1 single on a Billboard chart with “On My Mama” (via Lovett/RCA Records), which dominated the Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay tally. The Texas-based singer-songwriter continued her winning streak by securing another chart-topper on the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay list.

As anticipation builds for the 2024 Grammy Awards, where Monét is nominated for seven prestigious categories, including Record of the Year, Best R&B Song, and Best New Artist, her influence in the industry is undeniable. Leading with six nominations, she is also a standout at the 2024 NAACP Image Awards scheduled to air on March 16.

BMAC’s commitment to empowering Black emerging artists and industry professionals extends beyond the BMAC x Victoria Monét Music Maker Grant. The organization boasts a growing portfolio of grants and empowerment programs, including The Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis Music Maker Grant, BMAC Ernie Paniccioli Music Photojournalism Grant & Celebration Event, BMAC x Audiomack Paid Music Internship for HBCU Students, BMAC x Kobalt Music Maker Grant Making Program, and more.

To identify the deserving recipient of the BMAC x Victoria Monét Music Maker Grant, BMAC will conduct a nationwide search, details of which will be disclosed in the coming weeks. For additional information, visit the official Black Music Action Coalition site.
