To mark three decades of cultural celebration presented by Coca-Cola®, the Evening Concert Series at Caesar’s Superdome will showcase a lineup of sensational performers, including the legendary Charlie Wilson.
Affectionately known as “Uncle Charlie,” Wilson launched his music career in 1967 as a founding member of The Gap Band. With hits like “Oops Upside Your Head,” “Burn Rubber on Me,” “Yearning For Your Love,” and “You Dropped a Bomb on Me,” The Gap Band left an indelible mark on music history. Their 1982 release, “Outstanding,” remains a timeless favorite at gatherings nationwide

In 1992, Wilson embarked on a successful solo career with his debut album, “You Turn My Life Around.” Since then, he has released seven additional albums, earned 13 Grammy Award nominations, won 11 NAACP Image Awards, received the 2009 Soul Train Icon Award, and was honored with a BMI Icon Award in 2005. A perennial favorite at the ESSENCE Festival, Wilson has delivered unforgettable performances at the Evening Concert Series, captivating audiences with his electrifying stage presence.

Since its inception in 1995, the ESSENCE Festival of Culture has become the summer’s premier event.
