Attention choreographers, listen up! Today, Billboard introduces “Dancing Up The Charts,” an exciting weekly dance challenge encouraging fans to craft a 10-second choreography snippet to a chart-topping song from Billboard’s roster.
Leading the evaluation of initial submissions is the esteemed choreographer JaQuel Knight, renowned for his remarkable collaborations with Beyoncé on iconic routines like “Single Ladies” and “Formation,” as well as her headline-worthy Beychella performance. His expertise extends to contributions to Megan Thee Stallion and Cardi B’s “WAP” video, among other notable projects.
In Monday’s announcement video, JaQuel Knight shares, “It’s your boy JaQuel Knight, and I’m doing something really cool with Billboard. We’re introducing a Billboard charts dance challenge based on the No. 1 songs on the chart. And this week, we’re aiming high with the Hot 100.”
Knight will personally select his favorites and unveil the winner every Friday, so it’s time to showcase your dance prowess! Create a 10-second routine to “Lovin On Me” and post your video on Instagram or TikTok with the hashtag #DancingUpTheBBCharts.
“I’ll watch them all, and I’ll pick the best one that we’ll announce on Friday on Billboard and my socials,” Knight emphasizes in the video. “We’ll tag you, so be on the lookout, baby. And I want to see the best moves out there. Come on, get with it!”
Every Friday, Billboard will highlight the winning clip on the @billboard Instagram and TikTok accounts. Additionally, each Monday, fans can anticipate the announcement of the No. 1 song for the week, as the new judge challenges enthusiasts to create viral dance moves.
This week, Harlow’s “Lovin On Me” continues its dominance at No. 1 on the Hot 100, marking its fourth nonconsecutive week atop the chart—an impressive achievement, considering it’s his lengthiest reign among his three chart-topping hits. His previous successes include a three-week rule with “First Class” in April-May 2022 and a one-week reign with Lil Nas X’s “Industry Baby” in October 2021.
