50 Cent is facing a lawsuit from a fan who claims she got hurt when he threw his microphone off the stage during a concert in Los Angeles. A lawsuit was filed against the rapper, whose real name is Curtis James Jackson III, by POWER 106 radio host Bryhana Monegain, accusing him of causing her “serious and permanent injury” and “emotional distress.”
The lawsuit states that the incident happened on August 30 at the Crypto.com Arena during 50 Cent’s The Final Lap tour. The rapper threw his microphone off the stage when he realized it wasn’t working, and it allegedly hit Monegain’s face and left wrist.
According to the court documents, Monegain was taken to the emergency department of the Los Angeles General Medical Center after the incident. She was treated for injuries including a concussion, a cut on her forehead, and pain in her left wrist. Monegain claims she experienced dizziness, headaches, light and sound sensitivity, and nausea afterward and continues to suffer from “severe injuries and emotional distress.”
The lawsuit also mentions medical expenses and lost wages during her recovery as part of the damages. AEG, G-Unit Touring, and 50 Cent are named in the suit.
Attorneys John Morgan and Casey Kilday, representing Monegain, said in a statement, “No matter who the assailant is, this alleged act of negligence and violence is unacceptable, and we will hold 50 Cent and his co-defendants accountable for their alleged actions.”
After the incident, Monegain filed a police report, but no criminal charges were filed against the rapper. The case will remain open for one year, and there’s a possibility of criminal charges if there are further incidents between 50 Cent and Monegain. 50 Cent’s attorney, Scott Leemon, denied that the incident was intentional, stating, “My client Curtis would never intentionally strike anyone with a microphone.”
