GloRilla, the rising star from Memphis, has just achieved a significant milestone in her career. During this year’s 901 Day celebrations on September 1st, the rapper was honored with a key to her hometown, a recognition she now shares with prominent figures like Drake and Yo Gotti. GloRilla took to Instagram to express her joy, sharing photos of the momentous occasion as she held up the wooden plaque, surrounded by friends and family. Her caption reflected her deep connection to the city: “Memphis made me Frayser raised me,” she wrote, celebrating the special day with her hometown.
The plaque, featuring a metallic key, the Shelby County seal, and the mayor’s signature, symbolizes her growing influence and the pride Memphis has in her accomplishments. The city’s mayor, Paul Young, also shared the honor on social media, acknowledging GloRilla as an emblem of Memphis’s legendary talent. The city’s 901 Day, named after the local area code, is an annual event that celebrates Memphis culture and honors local talent, making this recognition particularly meaningful for the 25-year-old rapper.
This accolade comes as GloRilla continues to make waves in the music industry. Her latest single, “TGIF,” has reached No. 28 on the Billboard Hot 100, matching the success of her previous hit, “Yeah Glo!” Additionally, her album Ehhthang Ehhthang debuted at No. 18 on the Billboard 200 in April, further solidifying her place as one of the most promising artists emerging from Memphis.
