Halsey has officially announced the release date and main album cover for The Great Impersonator, their highly anticipated fifth studio album. Following a worldwide scavenger hunt, fans can expect the album to drop on October 25th. The 29-year-old singer took to X on September 4th to share the news, expressing deep emotion about the project, saying, “I made this record in the space between life and death… and it feels like I’ve waited an eternity for you to have it.”
The album’s main cover, also revealed by Halsey, features a striking black-and-white close-up of the artist with rosy cheeks and a star-shaped sticker on their forehead that reads, “Behold the marvel of a century. Witness the uncanny ability of a woman who can become anyone, anything your heart desires.” This captivating imagery aligns with the album’s theme of transformation and identity, hinting at a deeply personal and introspective work.
Fans were sent on an exciting journey to uncover time capsules hidden in major cities across the globe, including London, New York, Toronto, Los Angeles, and Sydney. Each capsule contains unique variants of the album’s cover, representing different decades. Halsey’s scavenger hunt brought fans together in a shared mission, as clues for each city were only revealed after the previous one was found. This creative rollout has heightened anticipation for The Great Impersonator, which follows Halsey’s critically acclaimed 2021 album If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power. Alongside the announcement, Halsey has teased several singles, with a new track titled “Ego” set for release on September 6th.
