Riley Keough Reflects on Lisa Marie Presley’s Passing, Calling It a Death From a ‘Broken Heart’

Riley Keough, daughter of the late Lisa Marie Presley, recently opened up about her mother’s emotional struggles leading up to her passing. Though Presley’s official cause of death was a small-bowel obstruction, Keough believes the true cause was the heartbreak from losing her son, Benjamin, to suicide in 2020. Lisa Marie, the only child of Elvis and Priscilla Presley, had previously expressed that she could never fully recover from her son’s passing. The emotional toll of her loss is a major theme in Lisa Marie’s upcoming posthumous memoir, From Here to the Great Unknown, which Keough helped complete by piecing together her mother’s recorded stories.

Keough will discuss the book in an Oprah Winfrey special, The Presleys – Elvis, Lisa Marie, and Riley, airing on CBS and Paramount+ on the same day.
