Police confirmed the incident occurred around 6:17 p.m. when an officer was flagged down for assistance. Jackson, 70, was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The Gallup Police Department’s preliminary investigation is ongoing as they continue to gather information and interview witnesses.

Reports suggest that Jackson may have suffered a heart attack while traveling from New Mexico to Oklahoma. Jackson’s family, including his sons TJ, Taj, and Taryll, shared their grief in an emotional Instagram post. They praised their father as a caring and influential figure in their lives, as well as a legendary musician who inspired countless fans worldwide. The heartfelt statement expressed their shock and sorrow, ending with their father’s motto, “Love One Another.”

Tito Jackson’s passing marks another significant loss for the Jackson family. As part of The Jackson 5, Tito helped shape the musical landscape of the 1960s with chart-topping hits like “I Want You Back” and “ABC.” Tito later pursued a solo career, releasing Tito Time in 2016. His death follows that of his brothers Michael in 2009 and Joe Jackson, their father, in 2018.
