Halsey is embracing her Jersey roots in anticipation of her new album, The Great Impersonator. Leading up to the album’s release, the singer announced on Instagram that she’ll be impersonating a different music icon daily, teasing snippets of songs they inspired. Most recently, she paid homage to Bruce Springsteen, adopting his iconic look from the “Born in the U.S.A.” era, complete with jet-black hair, sideburns, and denim, perfectly channeling The Boss. Halsey, who hails from Edison, New Jersey, expressed her connection, saying, “This one requires no explanation, I’m a Jersey girl :)” for the track “Letter to God (1983).”
The Springsteen tribute is part of a broader series where Halsey has transformed into other legendary figures, including Stevie Nicks, Amy Lee, Cher, and David Bowie. This unique promotional strategy showcases Halsey’s versatility as she celebrates musical legends who have shaped her sound. Each impersonation highlights the icons’ influence on various tracks in her upcoming album, adding a creative and nostalgic layer to the album’s rollout.
Set to release on October 25, The Great Impersonator will be Halsey’s fifth studio album, following the success of 2021’s If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power. With singles like “The End” and “Lucky,” the album promises to traverse different musical eras, further demonstrated by her fan-led scavenger hunt revealing multiple cover art variations inspired by different decades.
