As the YSL RICO trial involving Young Thug comes to a close, Jeffrey Williams Sr., the rapper’s father, has been vocal about his disdain for the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office. Speaking outside the courthouse on December 3, Williams Sr. didn’t hold back in his criticism.
“I still feel the same way [about the D.A.’s office as I previously expressed]. It’s a piece of shit,” he stated bluntly. He went on to call for change: “If we want to continue to have justice, we gotta get them out of there.”
Williams Sr. provided an update on Young Thug’s condition post-jail, saying the rapper is doing “great” but acknowledging that their battle isn’t over. “We’re still fighting out here. I got another son and a grandson that was arrested about this case that I’m still fighting for,” he shared.
This is not the first time Williams Sr. has expressed frustration with District Attorney Fani Willis. In an October interview with 11 Alive, he voiced concerns about her handling of the case, particularly restrictions that bar Young Thug from returning to his hometown of Atlanta.
“To see her take the man away from where he’s from, to have to go live somewhere else, that’s offensive to me,” he said.
Williams Sr. also endorsed Courtney Kramer in the 2024 election, calling for new leadership in the D.A.’s office. He believed Kramer was the right choice to bring justice and fairness to Fulton County. However, Kramer was ultimately defeated by Willis in November’s election.
Despite the legal and political setbacks, Williams Sr. remains determined to support his son and fight for justice. “I’ve always been in his life, from a pup to now. And I’m gonna continue to be in his life,” he affirmed.
Young Thug’s legal journey isn’t over, but his resilience and the unwavering support of his family signal a determined effort to move forward. As the spotlight remains on the YSL case, the rapper’s story is a reminder of the ongoing challenges faced by those navigating the justice system.
