Sean “Diddy” Combs and his legal team are fighting back against last year’s high-profile police raids. The music mogul claims that Homeland Security’s searches of his Miami and Los Angeles homes were unconstitutional
In a newly filed court motion, Diddy asserts that the warrants used for the raids were too broad. The filing claims authorities seized his mobile devices, iCloud account, and hotel room records without proper justification.
His legal team argues that the warrant applications “presented a grossly distorted picture of reality” and left out evidence that could have been in his favor. Though the motion is heavily redacted, it suggests that crucial information about a key witness was deliberately omitted from the case.
Diddy’s team alleges: “The government got its warrants, leaked damaging information, and then executed its military-style raids at Combs’s residences. Here, rather than giving the reviewing magistrate a fair summary, the government hid exculpatory evidence to bolster its case.”
The filing also accuses prosecutors of engaging in “systemic deception” to justify the raids. According to the motion, much of the warrant’s supporting evidence came from an individual referred to as “Producer-1.” This person allegedly made accusations against Diddy that his team claims were “never credible.”
Additionally, “Producer-1” is reportedly not expected to testify against Diddy in his upcoming sex trafficking trial.
The motion also defends Diddy against claims made by “Victim-1,” known to be his ex-girlfriend Cassie. His legal team insists that any interactions between them were consensual.
Diddy is requesting the court to suppress any evidence collected through the raids. Alternatively, he is asking for a hearing to examine how the government obtained the warrants.
The prosecution has yet to respond but is expected to submit a formal reply through court filings soon.
Diddy has pleaded not guilty to charges of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and prostitution. He remains in Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center since his arrest last September, despite multiple attempts to secure bail.
This case highlights concerns over search warrant procedures and law enforcement tactics. If successful, Diddy’s legal fight could set a precedent for future high-profile cases. For more updates on legal rights and constitutional protections, visit ACLU or follow legal news at Law360.
