Doechii made history at the 2025 Grammys, and she wasted no time celebrating her victory with a brand-new track. Just hours after clinching the Best Rap Album award for Alligator Bites Never Heal, the TDE star dropped a song titled “Nosebleeds” that pays homage to an iconic Kanye West moment.

The track features a clever nod to Ye’s famous 2005 Grammy acceptance speech when he won the same award for The College Dropout. Doechii raps:
“I don’t know, is she gonna go crazy? Is she gonna go crazy? / Errbody wanted to know what Doechii would do if she didn’t win / I guess we’ll never–.”

The lyrics directly reference West’s speech where he declared:
“Everybody asked me the question, they wanted to know, I know he’s gonna wild out, he’s gonna do something crazy! Everybody wanted to know what I would do if I didn’t win… I guess we’ll never know.”

Making History for Women in Rap

At the ceremony, Doechii became only the third female artist to win Best Rap Album, following Lauryn Hill’s win with the Fugees in 1997 and Cardi B’s solo triumph in 2019. She acknowledged their influence in her heartfelt acceptance speech:

“I don’t want to make this long, but this category was introduced in 1989, and three women have won: Lauryn Hill, Cardi B, and Doechii. I put my heart and soul into this mixtape. I bared my life. I went through so much. I dedicated myself to sobriety, and God told me that I would be rewarded and that He would show me just how good it can get. I have to thank God.”

Doechii also expressed gratitude to her mother, her label TDE, her fans, and everyone who contributed to Alligator Bites Never Heal. She ended her speech with an empowering message for Black women:

“I know that there is some Black girl out there, so many Black women out there, that are watching me right now, and I want to tell you: You can do it. Anything is possible. Don’t allow anybody to project stereotypes on you that tell you you can’t be here, that you’re too dark, or you’re not smart enough, or you’re too dramatic, or you’re too loud. You are exactly who you need to be, to be right where you are—and I am a testimony.”

A Show-Stopping Performance

Beyond her historic win, Doechii delivered one of the most electrifying performances of the night. She took the stage for a stunning medley of “Catfish” and “Denial is a River,” showcasing her dynamic stage presence, intricate choreography, and undeniable charisma.

With a Grammy win under her belt and a bold new song making waves, Doechii is proving that she’s a force to be reckoned with in hip-hop. Nosebleeds not only celebrates her triumph but also cements her place in rap history, drawing inspiration from past legends while blazing her own trail.
