Justin Bieber is officially back in the studio after a three-year hiatus from releasing new music. In a recent interview with The New York Times, indie singer-songwriter Mk.gee revealed he’s been working with Bieber, praising the pop star’s creative process. Bieber’s voice, Mk.gee noted, is so influential that “anything that comes out of his mouth: That’s pop music,” giving producers the freedom to experiment behind his vocals.
Bieber’s return to music follows significant health challenges. In 2022, the singer postponed multiple dates of his world tour after being diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, which caused partial facial paralysis. Despite briefly resuming his tour, Bieber ultimately canceled all remaining shows through 2023, citing the need to prioritize his health. While he made a few guest appearances on singles like Don Toliver’s “Private Landing” and SZA’s “Snooze,” Bieber largely focused on his recovery during this period.
In addition to his music comeback, Bieber recently embraced fatherhood. He and his wife, Hailey Bieber, welcomed their first child, a baby boy named Jack Blues Bieber, last month. Balancing his health, family life, and music career, Bieber’s latest studio sessions signal a promising new chapter for the pop star.
