Sabrina Carpenter recently shared her childhood admiration for female pop stars during an interview with W Magazine. The 25-year-old singer revealed that her early crushes were all female icons, including Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, and Ariana Grande. She fondly recalled covering her walls with posters from Tiger Beat magazine, a nod to her deep connection with pop culture during her formative years. These women, once her idols, are now her peers in the music industry.
Fast forward to the present, Carpenter has had the opportunity to open for both Grande and Swift, performing on the Dangerous Woman Tour in 2017 and the Eras Tour in 2024. Like Cyrus, Carpenter gained initial fame on a Disney Channel show, Girl Meets World, which she parlayed into a successful music career. This year, her new album, Short n’ Sweet, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, a milestone that mirrors the accomplishments of her childhood role models.
Aside from her musical idols, Carpenter confessed to having a crush on Zac Efron during his Hairspray days. She humorously recounted a memorable encounter with him on a beach when she was 12, where he gave her a shirtless hug that left a lasting impression. Now dating actor Barry Keoghan, Carpenter continues to reflect on the surreal journey from fan to star, living the life she once admired from afar.
