Tyrese Gibson was arrested Monday after failing to pay court-ordered child support. The singer and actor, who shares a 5-year-old daughter, Soraya, with ex-wife Samantha Lee, appeared in Fulton County court where Judge Kevin Farmer found him in contempt. Despite being ordered to pay $10,000 per month since April 2023, Tyrese had only been paying $2,200 monthly. His refusal to meet the full amount led to his arrest, with the judge demanding $73,000 to settle the dispute and avoid further jail time.

Gibson took to social media ahead of the hearing, calling his ex-wife’s actions “goofy” and claiming innocence, citing a prenuptial agreement from their 2020 divorce. He accused Samantha’s lawyers of not reviewing his bank statements, instead relying on his IMDb profile to assume his financial standing. Despite this, Judge Farmer remained firm, adding $7,500 in attorney fees to the total amount owed by Gibson.

As of now, Tyrese is working on paying the $73K and is expected to be released soon. This isn’t the first time Gibson and Judge Farmer have clashed, as the two have had multiple contentious court appearances over the years.
