Tyler, The Creator has ignited excitement for his potential new album with the surprise release of his single “St. Chroma” on October 16. The Odd Future founder dropped both the track and its military-themed music video without warning, hinting at a new project titled Chromakopia. The video features Tyler and a group of soldiers marching toward a shipping container marked with the word “CHROMAKOPIA,” which also appears at the end of the video and is woven throughout the song.

The track, lasting just one minute and 24 seconds, showcases Tyler’s unique style with whispered, braggadocious lyrics over a backdrop of stomps and claps. Lines like, “Really ballin’ in this bitch, I’m the hottest in this bitch,” add to the song’s confident tone. As the track progresses, it builds to a soulful climax with guest vocals from Daniel Caesar, followed by a sudden switch to a frantic, hard-hitting beat that leaves fans wanting more.

This unexpected drop has stirred excitement, especially since Tyler had recently hinted that he might not be releasing new music anytime soon. Earlier this month, in response to a post by his collaborator Steve Lacy, Tyler mentioned that he felt annoyed when people asked about new albums, adding, “I wanna be an actress lmfao.” His comment sparked speculation that he might be shifting focus toward acting rather than music, which made the release of “St. Chroma” even more surprising.

Tyler’s last album, Call Me If You Get Lost, debuted in June 2021, marking his second number one on the Billboard 200 and earning him a Grammy for Best Rap Album. A deluxe edition titled The Estate Sale followed less than two years later, featuring collaborations with artists like A$AP Rocky and Vince Staples. With Chromakopia potentially on the horizon, fans are eagerly awaiting more details from the Grammy-winning artist.
