Rapper G Herbo has been hospitalized due to a strong new flu strain that’s hitting hard in 2025. The Chicago artist shared a picture of himself in a hospital bed on Instagram Stories with a message: “Y’all be safe out here bro this new flu strand ain’t no joke.”

He did not share many details about his condition. But the warning was clear — this flu season is serious, and people should take care.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has reported that this is the worst flu season in 15 years. Over 25,000 people have died from the flu during the winter, including more than 100 children. Nearly 600,000 Americans were hospitalized.

Symptoms of the flu can range from fever, chills, cough, sore throat, body aches, to serious fatigue. It can get worse for people who have other health problems or are older.

The 29-year-old rapper’s post quickly made fans concerned. Many sent prayers and well wishes. Social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter) also shared his hospital picture and urged followers to stay cautious.

This health scare comes not long after another hard time for G Herbo. In late 2024, he lost his father. He shared the heartbreaking news during a live stream with Kai Cenat, joined by his 6-year-old son, Yosohn.

“There’s always light at the end of the tunnel,” Herbo told viewers. “I just lost my pops two weeks ago… I still find a reason to get up and smile, to get up and work, to provide for my family.”

He comforted his son, who was crying during the stream, by saying: “He’s living through you, son.”

Despite dealing with grief, Herbo has stayed strong for his family. His message of strength and hope has inspired many fans, especially those going through tough times.

If you want to stay safe this flu season, the CDC recommends:

  • Getting your annual flu shot

  • Washing your hands often

  • Staying home if you feel sick

  • Wearing a mask in crowded places
